  • Awful

I've had this service for about a month now and I'm very disappointed in the service. I pay $50 a month for "faster" internet however the internet hardly works and when it does it's EXTREMLY slow or decides to cut on/off as it pleases. If it wasn't for the sake of me having to be at my current location and this being the ONLY option for internet it sucks. I called customer service a handful of times in regards to the internet not working and they always say they will get back to me and never do. As soon as I can I'm cancelling this service and taking my... More...

  • Dishonest business model

They had a few terms hidden in their long agreement that few people would have time to read thoroughly or understand easily. To give you a few examples: (1) when you purchased a premium North American wifi services and when you travelled to other countries, even though you have no intention to use Boingo wifi, your devices will be automatically connected the destination's wifi, and you will be charged with outrageous premium charges for every single minute. (2) when you wanted to cancel the account, they will use all excuses not to delete your information. (3) when other people... More...

  • Battery Drainer

Have a new Samsung Galaxy S5. Love it but not the best on battery life. All of the sudden had to re-charge battery 3 times per day and carry around a heavy external battery to make sure I didn't have a dead phone on my hands. In talking to the phone's tech support he had me look at what was eating my battery. Boingo was on top using 5 times any other app. Uninstalled and voila, I am still over 50% after using the phone all day. Boingo is not important enough of an app to chew up my phone. Why they don't have an "on/off" switch when you don't need them is... More...

  • Never Use BOINGO!

Do not ever use Boingo! I tried to use public wifi (which is Boingo) at JFK in June 2014 .... signed up for a one-day usage, got charged $4.95 -- service was crap! But paid the bill when it appeared on the credit card statement. Next month - same amount appeared again ... third month - same amount appeared again .... Called Boingo. "You signed up for unlimited service!" No, I didn't. I signed up for one-day service and used it for maybe 15 minutes before giving up. They say they've credited my credit account for those two extra payments. We'll see.... More...

  • Business as usual

I purchased, or tried to purchase, a one day use of Boingo when I was at Baltimore/Washington Airport in December of 13 so that I could make an important email. I used it that day and never again. My wife asked me today, "What is Boingo?". I have been paying for the unlimited plan for six months. I know I didn't sign up for the unlimited monthly plan because I would have no use for it. I fly infrequently and I have a natural aversion to paying for WiFi. I called Boingo and wrangled a two month refund. Apparently, this is part of their business model because all of us... More...

  • Cancel your account. ITS A SCAM

I was under the impression that you were actually paying for wifi not actually using other peoples wifi, i can do that with the settings on my phone. So i cancelled my account and tried to call and to make sure the account as cancelled. Needless to say I dont think the place exists. I called the 800-800-4117 number and that gave me another number with gave me another number and connected me to dish tv. Its a scam. I cancelled my credit card and and closed the account so i would not get charged. More...

  • Boingo Wireless - I was charged 3X!

I had signed up for the pay as you go for the 3 hours I was going to spend at LGA. A few days later, I noticed there were 3 separate charges on my credit card. I proceeded to call the company, and they said that shouldn't have happened because it looks like it was the same laptop and a mobile device. However, they were only going to refund me one charge because I was only allowed to use one device. The customer service representative was rude during the entire process, and I proceeded to explain to him that if I were on his end I could have paid that amount for an unlimited plan... More...

  • Unexplained charge.

I registered for a 15 min free account of Boingo at Heathrow airport. The speed was however good - I don't have complains about that. I declined any chargeable usage thereafter and did not use their wifi. However, I was charged GBP 7.95 on my credit card. That is ridiculous!!! This is a scam!!! Moreover, this is the sequence / chronology of emails: 1. Receipt for GBP 7.95 on --- Mon, May 20, 2013 at 1:30 AM 2. Second email thanking for free internet usage --- Mon, May 20, 2013 at 12:11 PM So they charge first and then thanks for the free internet usage!!! This shows the flaw in... More...

  • Can't stop Boingo charging

This review has been resolved or replied to by this company. I had no other option to connect to internet but Boingo in the Lisboa airport during a connection between France and Brasil. I connected one first time on the way and another time 2 weeks after on the way back, and now have 2 accounts! I discovered after several months I was being billed for 2 Boingo accounts for months. I'm not even able to close the accounts, since the password recovery is asking me for a username that I'm not able to remember. I've got several months of charges, tho, and never used their service! Very unhappy. More...

  • Charge without warning or authorization

I paid for Boingo wifi in the Chicago O'Hare airport, which I was informed prior to clicking the PAY button. After I boarded my plane, I realize that the flight offers wifi service by GoGo. After arriving on GoGo's initial page, there was a link for users of other companies, like Boingo, to log in for wifi access. I proceeded logging in and was granted wifi access. Little did I know that Boingo charged me for roaming access until a few days later. During the log in process, it never informed me of how much the roaming charge would be or ask for my permission to send the charge... More...

  • Automatic charge money without asking for a permission

This review has been resolved or replied to by this company. I first used the Boingo Wireless service at the JFK airport in NY. A couple of days later I was at the Paris airport, and I connected to the Boingo wireless. I was expecting to see a page that shows me the price for that connection, with a confirmation button, and then, if would like still to purchase the connection, a page where I could insert my credit card information. Instead, the system logged me automatically and it also automatically charged on my credit card the entire price! Unbelievable, for two reasons: 1. The system did not show me any price and also did not asked... More...

  • Double account, no usage

This review has been resolved or replied to by this company. Working and living in China, was in the US for a brief visit. Had no other option to make an emergency communication but Boingo in the Detroit airport. First attempt to connect was unsuccessful, so tried again, and now have 2 accounts! Went back to China, and discovered after several months I was being billed for 2 Boingo accounts for months. Account rep on customer line was helpful, closed the accounts, but was only able to give 60 days of reimbursement. I've got several months of charges, tho, and never used their service! So, so unhappy. More...

  • Like dialup in a thunderstorm. If you're lucky.

When I got stuck at JFK Airport for 12 hours, I figured it would be a good idea to buy a day of Boingo service so I could amuse myself and stay busy. WRONG! The service at Terminal 1 is spotty at best. There is ZERO signal anywhere near any electircal outlets. When you can get a signal, it's of intermittent quality, usually about a 2-bar level and slow as all get-out. Even to send them a complaint, I had to get access to airport lounge wi-fi. I asked for a refund but I'm not holding my breath. It'd be cheaper and far less frustrating to just bring a couple of crossword... More...

  • Boingo will NOT cancel subscription service

After signing up for a half price trial for 3 months and then canceling the subscription online at the end of the trial Boingo still charged me the full priced monthly fee for over half a year. When I caught this error and brought it to their attention, they were able to resolve the issue after sitting on hold for 30 minutes and making my way through their automated phone routing. Apparently, my cancelation was in their system but 'technical difficulties' and 'complications' prevented billing from being stopped. I do not recommend Boingo to anyone considering buying... More...

  • Unexplained credit card charges

This review has been resolved or replied to by this company. I have used boingo at Heathrow airport one month ago(10-Sept-2012) for one hour, and since then I have been charged two more times ( 21-Sept-2012 and 10-Oct-2012 ) without giving authorization to charge my credit card. I demand some explanations and full refund for these charges. In addition i want you to STOP charging my credit card and remove all my details from your system. More...

  • 24 hour access bills still continue

This review has been resolved or replied to by this company. was stuck in an airport in Heathero Airport for 16 hours on 7 July so I purchased what Boingo called 24 hour access to the internet. I paid the GBP 3.95 then thought nothing else of it since what I was paying for was labeled as one day use. Now, three months later, I noticed a weird GBP 3.95 bill. I checked the month before and it also had the same bill. Turns out Boingo has been billing me GBP 3.95 per month since I purchased the 24 hour usage. I have NEVER used boingo since the day at the airport. Therefore please stop the billing immediately and refund the money to my Visa card. More...

  • Do NOT use - misleading and terrible customer sercice

This review has been resolved or replied to by this company. Boingo wireless not only highly mislead me into thinking that their unlimited plan would actually be - unlimited throughout hot spots around the globe - what their website clearly states is around the globe. Right? WRONG! Apparently I was supposed to recall from fine print in 2010 that I will be charged 12-16 cents per minute for use outside the US. When I called, seeking that I am being charged up to $100 for use outside the US - oh yeah, and they sent me delayed receipts so I didn't even know until a week later that I was being charged. When I called to get more info, the rep... More...

  • Monthly Charge When I Purchased 24 hour access

This review has been resolved or replied to by this company. I was stuck in an airport in Chicago for 8 hours so I purchased what Boingo called 24 hour access to the internet. I paid the $9.95 (already over charged for only 24 hour access) then thought nothing else of it since what I was paying for was labeled as one day use. Now, three months later, I noticed a weird $9.95 bill. I checked the month before and it also had the same bill. Turns out Boingo has been billing me $9.95 per month since I purchased the 24 hour usage. I have NEVER used boingo besides the day at the airport. It was a struggle to recover my login info because there is no... More...

  • Boingo's business is to overcharge extra months past the

This review has been resolved or replied to by this company. I subscribed to Boingo in Chicago Airport because it offered the service and that it would work everywhere. Unfortunately I flew to Boise, Idaho Airport, and expecting to be able to use it to find hotel reservations and to my surprise, Boingo does not have presence in that airport. Then I decided to cancel the service 2 weeks after contracting, and all I got was the Voice Mail maze, and never to a human being. I succeeded in cancelling the service but a couple of months later I found out that I had been charged extra months past the first that I paid for. They apologized... More...

  • Boingo rip off

I cant believe how i have been ripped off by this company, i signed up for a 1 hour service at London Heathrow, i then used another boingo hot spot twice on different dates in Madrid Airport, i was not informed i would be charged extra, they have taken a total of nearly $60 without my permission, i have tried to call them using Skype but of course it wont work i will have to call them on a landline and probably get charged a premium rate for that. I have reported the fraud to my bank and they are looking into it. The bank have since blocked any more transactions from this bunch of con... More...
